#27 The Tiger’s Nest
Taktsang Dzong or The Tiger’s Nest is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. I hiked for 4 hours through the foothills of the Himalayan mountains to reach it. It rained on and off and the clouds sometimes covered the view completely.
For this shot I used a tripod and a very high f-stop (f/22) to get as much front to back detail as possible. Since it was raining I also used a rain jacket for the camera which I’ll discuss further in another post!
The Uncertainty of Bhutan via Bangkok
I have a photography trip to Bhutan planned for this September. To reach there I’m to fly via Bangkok (one of only a handful of places Druk Air – the Bhutan national airline – has flights from).
If you’ve read the news at all lately you must have heard about the violence happening in Bangkok right now. The US and British Embassy have closed and are urging people to avoid travel to Bangkok.
I will be the first to admit that my understanding of the situation is fleeting at best. One alternative I have to avoid the violence is to fly via Kathmandu. However, the general population of Thailand don’t have much of a choice – it’s their home.
I really do hope it all dies down – not only for my flight but for the people of Thailand.
Going Solo
I bought the Lonely Planet guide to Bhutan and Hidden Bhutan.
Have decided that I shall go in September to attend the Thimphu Tsechu (Festival) and spend 8 days out there.
After asking around a bit it seems that no one can make September except for me – so it’s going to be a solo adventure this time.
I have no idea how it’s going to turn out and I’m finding it quite exciting indeed!
Bhutan Trip
I’m planning a trip to Bhutan!
Details are still to be worked out and I need to get a plane ticket to Bangkok first.
